Amnesty International (AITEN) hosts an important newly-released Japanese documentary.
With the recent focus on how Japan is dealing with its increasing foreign population, NOW and THEN looks at pressing issues for refugees and asylum seekers in Japan, and at activists working for changes to the current system.
The film also covers the long unresolved cases of attacks on Korean residents after the 1926 Kanto earthquake, linking past and present to spark awareness and discussion of discrimination and injustice.
Discussion and questions after the screening, English subtitles and translation, and the director Takashi Nishihara will join.
